Specific opiate conditions don't allow the usage of conventional technologies (magnetic/smart cards, tagging etc..).

On the other hand the local Privacy Laws suggest to avoid the diffusion of health related informations.

The fingerprint technology is ideal to identify the opiate user without the need to ask for name or documents and relate the user with his own prescription plan (dose, days, increase or reduction rate, etc..)

This technology has been introduced in Q3-2003 in the MMD3/5 dispensers and it is currently under field test.
